Many people have been having a recent and important conversation about racism. Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) have faced significantly more difficulties than White people. In ancient Greece, democracy was a system in which only white adult males could vote. Greece's other inhabitants were barely considered human. People affected by slavery have never fully recovered in the United States, where slavery lasted hundreds of years and enslaved people were considered three-fifths of a person. Black people still faced racism daily, and segregation against them continued even after slavery was abolished. Although racism is present in nearly every aspect of life, the educational system, the workplace, and the police force are three good starting points for promoting racial equality. In our article we will review the results of a survey organized by Swarthmore college political scientist Keith Reeves.
