My Nursing Ethics Assignment.
After reading the Topic 1 materials, complete the questionnaire titled, “My Nursing Ethic.” Complete the questions below: PASSION: Why am I here? MOTIVATION: What moves me to act? INSPIRATION: What keeps me in motion? LOYALTY: Whom do I serve? Using the reading and the questionnaire, write a paper of 750-1,000 words in which you describe your professional moral compass. As you write your paper, include the following: What personal, cultural, and spiritual values contribute to your worldview and philosophy of nursing? How do these values shape or influence your nursing practice? Define values, morals, and ethics in the context of your obligation to nursing practice. Explain how your personal values, philosophy, and worldview may conflict with your obligation to practice, creating an ethical dilemma. Reflect and share your thoughts regarding the morals and ethical dilemmas you may face in the healthcare field. How do your personal views affect your behavior and your decision-making? Do not be concerned with the use of ethical terminology for this paper.
Every individual is shaped by a unique combination of experiences, emotions, memories, and knowledge. These factors influence how we perceive the world, interact with others, and make decisions. Together, they form the foundation of our ethical beliefs, guiding our reasoning, judgments, and actions.
Additionally, a person’s philosophy or worldview plays a key role in shaping their behavior, serving as both a source of motivation and inspiration. Since a client’s worldview forms the basis of their reality, nurses must take it into account when creating a holistic care plan (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2008). Professional nurses must develop a strong moral compass and be aware of the factors shaping their perspectives to provide ethical and compassionate care.
From my perspective, a moral compass is an internal guide that helps individuals make decisions based on their values and virtues. Various inspirations, passions, and beliefs that are essential to my happiness shape my moral compass (Moral Compass, 2011).
